I Rushed to the Hospital After My Husband’s Serious Accident — Only to Find His ‘Other Wife’ at the Reception Asking to Visit Him

The phone call came in the middle of the night.

“Mrs. Carter, your husband has been in a serious accident. You need to come to the hospital immediately.”

Emma’s heart nearly stopped. She grabbed her keys and rushed out the door, her mind racing with fear. Her husband, James, had been working late as usual, but she never imagined she would get a call like this. Was he badly injured? Would he survive?

When she arrived at the hospital, she ran straight to the reception desk, breathless.

“My husband, James Carter—where is he?” she asked anxiously.

But before the nurse could respond, Emma heard another voice beside her.

“I’m here to see my husband, James Carter,” the woman said confidently.

Emma turned, expecting some kind of misunderstanding. But what she saw made her blood run cold. The woman standing next to her was well-dressed, with an expensive handbag slung over her shoulder. And she had just called James her husband.

The receptionist looked between the two women in confusion. “I’m sorry, but… who exactly is James Carter’s wife?”

Emma’s stomach twisted. “I am his wife,” she stated firmly, glaring at the woman beside her.

The other woman’s expression hardened. “That’s impossible,” she said. “I am his wife.”

For a moment, neither of them spoke. The realization dawned on Emma like a crashing wave—James had been living a double life.

The nurse, sensing the tension, quickly excused herself to check with the doctors. Meanwhile, Emma turned to the other woman, her hands shaking.

“Who are you?” she demanded.

The woman crossed her arms. “I could ask you the same thing.”

A doctor appeared and called them both into a private waiting room. “Mrs. Carter,” he said, hesitating. “Or… Mrs. Carter and Mrs. Carter.” He cleared his throat awkwardly. “James is stable but unconscious. I think you both deserve some answers, but I’d suggest discussing them somewhere more private.”

Emma’s heart pounded. She wanted to scream, to demand the truth right there, but instead, she took a deep breath and turned to the other woman. “If you’re his wife, how long have you been married?”

“Three years,” she answered without hesitation.

Emma’s knees nearly buckled. Three years. The same amount of time she had been married to James. He hadn’t cheated—he had two wives. Two entire lives.

As the weight of the betrayal sank in, Emma knew one thing for sure. The man lying in that hospital bed wasn’t the man she thought she knew. And once he woke up, she wouldn’t be waiting by his side.
